Group of visitors asked me to organize a trip to visit Pitakumbura suburbs. Then we went on a trip on 22nd of January 2009. We waited at the Bibile bus stand till the visitors come from Colombo, via Kandy. We had to give directions to them to arrive Bibile city.  I went to the bus stand at 7.30 am and they came to Bibile at 8.30 am.

Then we asked them to have the breakfast from the Bibile- Ampara junction. They enjoyed the string hoppers.

Then they asked to go to a well managed Nenasala’s in Bibile. So, I asked to visit the Bibile Nenasala.

We met Mr. Nuwan, the manager to the Nenasala at around 10 am. The visitors discussed the sustainability of the Nanasala and network solutions available in Bibile.

He told that he is earning through uploading news videos to the news agencies through their reporters local and international apart from maintaining ICT tuitions.

The visitors said me that he has the business mind. Then we went through the Bibile-Ampara highway to Pitakumbura Navodya School at around 11.30 pm. Here they discussed on the development of the school children. They donated even prices to the children.

Next we reached to the Karadugala Blind lady House at karadugala in the Bulupitiya. The project was Sri Lanka’s first internet related government school  project in Sri Lanka.

The visitors too encouraged us to complete the house constructions above. They told that it was beautiful to see the constructions finished.

Then we started to drive to Prabhavi Resource Centre in Uhana in Ampara.

We passed Rathugala, Galgamuwa, Polwatte, Ampara to reach to the Uhana Prabhavi Resource Centre which was 28th mile post at Weranketagoda in the Ampara- Kandy highway via Mahaoya.

The place was beautiful. Mr. Nelan is the manager of the organization. His wife and children were also there. He explained the history and the development of the program.

Prabhavi online radio is the first Sri Lankan online radio channel too operates from the PRC in Uhana. There are around 100 members of the radio club. They had the musical instruments, sound mixer, temperature meter, speakers etc. Mr. Nelan described the history and the developments of the PRC. This effort was initiated by his brother who is living USA now then Mr. Nelan took the management.

They are waiting to launch a FM community radio soon .  Their theme is the ICT for agriculture. They do many agricultural projects and is to be started a company called Prabhavi Agri. Now they make Kurakkan products to the Cargills, Sri Lanka.

They started a tuition centre with a public library when we went there on January. All the organization is run by volunteers.

Then we went to the lunch which was prepared by Mr. Nelan. We enjoyed the tasty foods in the eastern. We had milk and honey for the desert.

We left back at around 4 pm from Mr.Nelan’s house.

Thanks Mr. Nelan for this event.
