Sri Lanka plans to set up boat building and training facilities in the east with the end of the ethnic war to provide employment and opportunities for export which were growing, an official said.

Gamini Herath, project manager for boat building in Sri Lanka of GTZ, the German technical training institute, said most boat builders in the island lacked modern technology and skills.
