The Ministry of Power and Energy had decided to develop all the electricity grid substations in the Colombo city to provide an efficient electricity service to the consumers, Power and Energy Ministry sources said.

A Power and Energy Ministry spokesman told the Daily Mirror that the technical problems in the distribution substation in the Colombo city that had been prevailing for several years would be rectified under this programme.

He also said that the Ceylon Electricity Board had already initiated updating the structure of this grid stations on the instructions of the Minister of Power and Energy John Seneviratne. The electricity consumers were faced with many problems including power failures due to the technical matters at  the substations during the past few years, he added.
