Sri Lanka heading towards becoming Hong kong –Hutch

Hutchison Telecommunication Lanka Limited (HTLL), one of the country’s leading mobile telecommunication providers,  said that Sri Lanka  is very well placed to become another Hong Kong  in Asia.  The development  of infrastructure facilities will be  a  vital factor in achieving  this goal.

Chief Executive Officer of HTLL,  Mr. Archie Man who returned  to Colombo after touring the Jaffna Peninsula, told Daily FT that the country is heading in the right direction after the dawn of peace. As  an outsider  to this country,  no one expected that the war would end so soon. It was encouraging to see  the way the government is acting. For example,  soon after the announcement of the cessation of hostilities, the  government  called  on all the telecommunication  operators in the country and  wanted to know their future plans. The government then arranged for the  elimination of  red tape in development  activites. What  I gathered is that the government has a  clear cut development plan in the works already. I have heard that  China is involved in these development plans,” Mr Archie Man said.
